ECO ART & PLASTIFLORA
"Plastiflora" (plastic + flora) is a series of eco-art installations in which de Beer is using plastic waste material, mainly used plastic bottles, to create a plethora of recycled synthetic vegetation. These floral variations include flowers, trees, shrubs and climbers. Some installations are actually placed in garden beds in cities some others are exhibited in galleries and museums.In addition to the artistic aesthetic aspect there are a number of significant advantages of plastiflora:There is no need to irrigate, thus saving water; it allows percolation of rain, thus saving more water for the next generations; it is resistant along time and requires minimal maintenance; there is no need to use chemicals and fertilizers; it offers an easy, friendly and educating act of recycling; it is easily integrated in the design of gardens and playgrounds in safe ways.
